Merry Christmas From the Coombs!

Hello Family and Friends! Welcome to our new family site. We hope this will help keep us in touch with each other a little better. It's fun to see pictures and learn what is happening in each other's lives!

Shawn and I are doing great! Life is busier than ever, but we are happy and doing the best we can to make it through every day. Shawn travels a lot with his business and he has been the Branch President, and now Bishop, for 3 years! It's a lot of work, but the blessings of serving in this capacity are very sweet and never ending. Shawn always has some project going on...he does not know how to just be home and relax. Last weekend he built custom pull up bars in the children's bedrooms. We have had pull up contests almost every day. So far, Shawn is winning with Coley right behind him. Scott is in 3rd place, and Kristen and I can hardly pull ourselves up an inch! We see our improvement though, even if no one else can! :)

I am busy homeschooling 5 children, which is the hardest and craziest thing I have ever done, but we are into our 6th year, and it has been a marvelous experience. I also organize huge Walton Feed orders for the east coast. I am crazy over food storage and emergency preparedness, and I love to scrapbook and photo journal my family's history. In the summer I thrill over growing a huge garden and doing lots of canning. This summer I will be in charge of cooking all the food at our Stake Girls Camp. I can't wait! It's all therapy for me..and I need it!!!

I want to say that I can't imagine being any busier, but the last time I said that, Shawn was called to be the Branch President....so I will just say that we are doing great and are enjoying the opportunity to raise a sweet family and serve in the Church.

Here's Scott!

Scott is the funniest little boy! He always seems to provide comic relief for us when we need it the most, or when we least expect it! He is 8 years old and was just baptized this last September. He loves being a Cub Scout, playing outside with his brothers in the woods, building forts and booby traps, and playing paintball! He asked for a pellet gun every day for 5 years (REALLY!) and he finally got one on his 8th birthday.

Here's Curtis!

Curtis is such a fun kid! He is 10 years old and he enjoys playing board games...especially checkers and Risk. He is very lively when playing board games... there is never a dull moment around Curtis! Curtis is a Webelo Scout and he loves being involved in all they do...especially the Pinewood Derby! Last year he came in 3rd place and had a great car that he built with his Dad. Curtis loves being physical in any way possible, riding bikes, running, hunting and fishing. He also likes school, especially math.

Here's Coley!

Can you believe Coley will be 14 in March?? They just grow up too fast! Coley is involved in scouting, and he should be ready to start earning his Eagle this next year. He is learning to play the piano, but he would rather be in the woods building fires, whittling on sticks, building tree forts, and catching wild creatures. He has a snake and breeds mice to feed to the snake. Isn't that nice? Coley is crazy over animals of all kinds. If he could do anything in the world, his top 3 choices would be hunting, camping and fishing. What a well rounded kid! Ha!

Here's Laura!

Have you ever seen a child LOVE doing the dishes? Well, Laura thinks it is a special treat! Her mother is so proud! Laura just turned 6 in November and she especially loves drawing, coloring, cutting, creating, gluing, and generally making creative messes and masterpeices! She is Mom's little helper, and she likes playing outside with her brothers. Some of these pictures were taken of Laura at the SC State Fair! We had so much fun!

Here's Kristen!

Kristen is 12 1/2 years old and is sooooo excited about being in Young Womens. Here she is with a few of her friends from church. Kristen loves playing the piano, reading good books, cooking, scrapbooking, music, and playing basketball. She is almost as tall as her mom!
